Oral Surgery in Portage

Our team at the office of Dr. Jason Dopp believes in helping surgical patients receive exceptional care while in a relaxing and comfortable environment. Patients may require oral surgery due to facial trauma and dental emergencies, knocked out or cracked teeth, injured gums, or infections in the teeth. *While there are some oral surgery procedures our team is capable of providing, in-office, our team will often refer patients to specialist offices for more advanced biopsies and other advanced oral surgery procedures.

Before oral surgery, you will usually be given an exam or consultation, which is typically where the need for oral surgery is spotted in the first place. Our team will then take x-rays to best view the area of the mouth in need of surgical care, and then our team will form a treatment plan that best meets your surgical needs. Whenever general anesthesia is given, always prepare transportation to and from our office, and get plenty of rest after your surgery is performed.

Different Oral Surgery Operations

Different types of oral surgeries may be performed in order to relieve pain, address an infection, treat facial trauma, or to restore someone’s facial appearance.

Tooth Extractions Teeth may have to be extracted at some point due to infections, facial trauma, or due to factors that come with aging. Wisdom teeth are a good example of a common extraction.

Dental Implants Procedures Dental implants are today’s most trusted tooth replacement methods by dentists and patients alike, and these permanent tooth restorations are fixed in the jawbone itself through a surgical procedure before a crown is placed on top of it.

Biopsies and Diagnosis Sometimes tissue in the mouth must be taken for purposes of diagnosis or for examination if a particular area in the mouth appears at-risk for some disease or other health concern. Biopsies involve a small piece of tissue being taken that is then analysis in a lab setting.

Jaw Complications Jaw misalignments or other complications may require surgical care for correction. These corrective procedures are meant to correct the position of the jaw as well as restore its function.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Treatments In some cases of sleep apnea and snoring, tissue in the back of the mouth can be removed that allows for a better flow of air into the throat, helping to treat sleep apnea and stop snoring.

Facial Trauma & Reconstructive Surgery. Surgery may be required after facial trauma occurs to correct the aesthetics of the face and jaw. These procedures are meant to address facial structure as well as the overall aesthetics of the face and the function of the jaw and other facial functions.

Cleft Lip/Palate. This common birth defect affects countless newborns each year, and can cause breathing complications. Thankfully, these birth defects can be easily corrected with a simple surgical procedure.
